When you get a pet home, there are some basic things that you will need and they come under pet supplies. Some of the important pet supplies include pet food, eating bowls, harnesses and pet bed among many others.
One of the important things that you need to consider while buying a pet bed is the way your dog or cat or any other pet sleeps. A pet bed is mostly required for dogs and cats only although you can buy it for rabbits and some of the other smaller pets too.
The second most important thing to understand is that a pet bed will be different for a dog and different for a cat. Normally, what you use for your dog will not be used for your cat. You can find pet beds at various stores offering other pet supplies and even online. One of the good things is that you will find a lot of variety when it comes to pet beds including the popular heated beds. The heated beds have grown in popularity because of the fact that they have a heating element that will keep the bed warm in the winters and will be comfortable and relaxing for your pet. You can choose from a heated orthopedic bed to a heated thermo pet bed. Most of the pet beds are available in three sizes, which are:
· Small: 19″x24″ – The small pet bed can take weights of up to 20lbs · Medium: 26″x29″ – The medium pet bed can take weights of up to 40lbs · Large: 36×38″ – The large pet bed can take weights of up to 60lbs

We all know that cats are loving and truly wonderful creatures. These days, it isn’t out of the ordinary to see a cat in virtually every other home, sleeping in the window or cuddling up on the laps of their owners. Although cats have been popular pets for as long as most can remember, they weren’t domesticated less than 5,000 years or so ago. Domestication took place in the valley of the Nile, which is what research tells us today.
In the beginning, people were very grateful to cats and encouraged them to stay with them by feeding them various scraps of food. Once they were fed and perceived humans to be no threat, the cats would move in permanently with their human owners. As time went by, even the wildest of cat would allows humans to approach him, often times even hold and touch as well.
In those days, cats were very loyal and endearing pets. They proved to be great hunters, as they done their sleeping in short periods and were much easier to wake up than dogs. Cats also have better night vision than dogs, and much better hearing as well. If someone moved through the house or if they heard suspicious noises, they would wake while dogs would sleep right through it. Humans loved having cats around, and they seemed to get along good with dogs as well.

Hamster Gerbil

Hamster or gerbil? How do I know which is the better choice?
I want to get a small pet for my son but do not like Guinea Pigs. Does anyone know the pros and cons of hamster versus gerbil? Any help would be appreciated.
If you are debating on whether to get a Hamster, or a Gerbil as a rodent pet, I would suggest you get a Gerbil. Unlike Hamsters, who are nocturnal, and the run in that darn wheel that squeaks all night, Gerbils are active during the day. These little guys are so interesting to watch. They run around, chew on things, bury food, and other things. Also, hamster urinate constantly, but Gerbils only urinate every so often, so your Gerbil cage almost never smells. Also, if you decide to get a Gerbil, I suggest you get two, and if you want a family of Gerbils, get a male and female. It’s amazing how careful the female Gerbil will handle those pink, tiny babies. The babies will grow fur, and run around like crazy while their eyes are still closed! So, I highly recommend a Gerbil because they are a lot of fun for only around Six dollars per Gerbil.

Penn Plax

My Penn-Plax action aquarium decoration says I need to connect it to an air source. What does this mean?
I bought it at Wal-mart and the skeleton is supposed to move up and down, but it needs to be connected to an independent air source. I have a 5 gal. hexagon shaped fish tank that I just put together and am not familiar w/ this. It came w/ a filter, but I don’t see a place to connect it to this.
if you want the skeleton to move, it requires an air pump and hose. I like the quiet air pumps available here: http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3578+3669+12738&pcatid=12738
you will also need to purchase air tubing as well, and perhaps tubing suction cup mounts for the back of the tank

Chinchilla Ferret

Should a 10 year old girl get a ferret,chinchilla,or a few rats?
Should a 10 year old responsible girl get a ferret, chinchilla,or a few rats? You need to tell me why that would be a good pet.And tell me how I can have fun and interactive playtime with that pet (ex.walking on a harness).
I don’t suggest a ferret for a 10 year old. Ferrets need a lot of space and play time… and they are quick! You literally have to ferret-proof your house by covering up any electrical cables/wires/outlets etc. They can squeeze themselves into the smallest of spaces you’d never think you’d ever find a ferret. And any ferret owner will tell you that a recliner is very dangerous to a ferret.. Also, ferrets tend to get sick more often than other pets.

Mice Cage Cages

When it comes to learning how to care for a hamster, your goal should be to remember that your furry friend must be kept warm, dry, and entertained. A hamster’s needs are directly related to the life it would be living were it a wild animal. Hamsters are desert creatures, populating dry, rocky areas in places like Syria, Mongolia, and Pakistan. This is why it’s essential that you meet your hamster’s need for dry, warm housing. Avoid keeping your hamster in an aquarium, as the glass enclosure will promote the locking-in of moisture. Instead, seek out a cage made especially for hamsters-either a standard wire enclosure or one of the popular “habit rail” type cages. For more details visit to www.dishadvice.com .Habit rail cage, with all of its tubes, turrets, and tunnels will also help ensure that your hamster’s need for entertainment is met.
Diet is another essential element in knowing how to care for a hamster. Fresh water should be made available at all times via a specially made drinking bottle. Never put your hamster’s water in a dish, as the dish will quickly be tipped or filled with debris, and then you will have a sad, wet hamster. As for food, there are a multitude of pre-packaged hamster foods on the market, and it’s always a good idea to make those foods the bulk of your hamster’s diet. However, hamsters, like people, appreciate a little variety at dinnertime, so an offering of apple pieces, carrot slices, or crackers is always welcome. Greens can also be integrated into your hamster’s diet, but avoid overfeeding these vegetables to your hamster as they will contract an illness called “wet tail,” which is fatal if left untreated. Keep in mind also that hamsters are hoarders. It is nearly impossible to overfeed them, as they will most likely take much of their food with them into their nest, so remove uneaten foods that might spoil if your hamster decides to save them for later!
Other items that should be on your hamster care checklist include plenty of bedding (try cedar or pine shavings), adequate nesting material (facial tissues work great), and the all-important exercise wheel. Hamsters are nocturnal by nature, so be sure to get a wheel that won’t make a ruckus and keep you awake as your pet makes its nightly rounds. Always be sure your hamster’s wheel is unobstructed and can turn freely. To know more logon to www.100cookingtips.com .The exercise a wheel provides is necessary to prevent your hamster from developing a condition called “torpidity.” When a hamster is torpid, it hasn’t had the activity it needs to maintain proper mental health. This lack of exercise will cause the hamster to snap, and possibly attack you when you reach in to pet it. Also be sure to respect your hamster’s nocturnal habits. Avoid waking your hamster during the daylight hours as much as possible, as this could result in a nasty bite, or in the very least, a grumpy, confused pet.

Guinea Pig
Is it safe to introduce a new guinea pig to my 3 Guinea Pigs in a new cage?
I have a C&C cage at the moment for 3 female Guinea Pigs and I was thinking about getting another guinea pig. I am planning on building an even bigger C&C cage so I can have more room for an additional guinea pig. If I were to introduce the new guinea pig and my current 3 guinea pigs to the new C&C cage, would there be any issues? Any advice in introducing a new guinea pig would be nice as well. Thanks.
No, there shouldn’t be a problem! Just inroduce them one at a time. If they begin to chatter their teeth, they may fight! Throw a towel over their heads to stop the fight. Then, you’ll know you’ll have to work on that.
Hope this Helps!

Glider Bird

Humans have always envied the way that birds fly in the air, and though we now have airplanes to take us through the air to our destinations, sitting in a pressurized cabin is not quite the same as feeling the wind as you glide through the sky. Thanks to new developments in the sport of hang-gliding it is now possible for more people to have the bird-like experience of gliding through the air.
If you have always wanted to try out hang gliding then one of the best places to do it as at the Wallaby Ranch Hang Gliding Flight Park near Orlando, Florida. Wallaby Ranch is the ideal place to try out the sport of hang gliding as it offers the most up-to-date method of hang gliding: tandem aero-towing. The development of tandem aero-towing, where a two-place hang glider is being towed by a specially designed ultra-light tow-plane, has greatly increased the accessibility of the sport.
Previously it was only possible to learn hang gliding with months of training on a hill and then launching from a high mountain site. This arduous sequence has been eliminated at Wallaby Ranch. You ride with in tandem with an experienced instructor and are towed 2000 feet into the air. Once you are released from the tow-plane or “tug” you will free-fly for 15 minutes and your instructor will show you how to control the glider by shifting your weight and easing into a smooth rolling landing.

Your pet is an important member of your family. Keeping him or her healthy will give them a longer life, and you and your family more time to enjoy their loyal companionship. Pets have health care needs that are in many ways much like that of humans. They are also vulnerable to diseases that only animals can be stricken with and preventative care is essential for helping them avoid these.
Most likely, you already know from taking your pets to the vet that they need yearly inoculations to protect them from rabies, distemper, and other common animal diseases They also need to be tested for heartworm once a year and to be placed on heartworm prevention medicine such as that made by Heartguard® and Interceptor®, for example. There are other tests your veterinarian may choose to give your pet to identify any potential health problems that exist. When health problems are found, your veterinarian can recommend certain pet medicines for treating your pet and restoring their health. Flea and tick medicines are commonly used by pet owners to help keep their pets and homes free from these disease-carrying pests. These are available in prescription and nonprescription formulas. For tested effectiveness and for the safety of your pet, however, it might be wiser to choose prescription flea and tick medicines to treat your pet with.

guinea pig small parts of hair?
my guinea pig doesn’t have the skin irritated although he seems to have his hair cut to half in one part where he’s been bitting himself. could it still be mite or just simple lice?
(he’s not bitting me anymore, he’s more quiet now, and cute as always.) what could it be, is this natural?
It’s not “normal,” per se, but it’s not unheard of. Has your pig been treated for mites? If so, the treatment should have eliminated any lice as well. Mites are microscopic, so you won’t physically see them, but lice are NOT – you CAN see them. If you haven’t already treated your piggie, go ahead and do so. Ivermetcin will take care of the mites and lice. A veterinarian can also treat with Revolution, which will take care of the mites and lice as well.
