Which is the best Disney Deluxe Resort?
My girlfriend and I are going to Disney World next year and we’re going to start saving now. She’s kind of a “high class” and expensive person mainly because she has expensive taste. Last year her and her family stayed in the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa in the Sugar Loaf. We both have about $2000 dollars each including flights and food. So where can we afford to go and what would be our best option? We were thinking about Disney’s Wilderness Lodge.
This is going to be a very relative question. Ultimately it depends on your taste and the amenities you want in the resort.

Fleas are parasites, feeding directly on humans or other warm blooded animals. Usually you or your pet serves as these hosts. A flea can jump 7 to 8 inches vertically and 14 to 16 inches horizontally. A skin reaction to a flea bite appears as a slightly raised and red itchy spot. Sometimes these sores bleed. Fleas usually require warm and humid conditions to develop.
The first step in ridding the home and yard of fleas is to apply a flea and tick preventative to all the dogs and cats in the home. If ticks are not a problem in your area then you can get by with flea preventative only, but if you live in an area with a lot of ticks then consider using a flea and tick combo preventative.
Clean pet bedding thoroughly. Wash it in hot water to kill the fleas and their eggs and dry it in full sunshine if possible or in the dryer on the hottest setting possible. The secret to killing the fleas is not really the temperature of the water, but how long it stays in the suds. A minimum of 15-20 minutes are needed for the detergent to break down their waxy coating so that they will dehydrate and die. Also sweep and mop the pet’s sleeping and resting area thoroughly. The pet’s area should be kept clean regularly, at least once a week.

Pantry Moth Traps
How do I know when if I have eradicated all of my pantry moths and when can I start to use my pantry again?
I have used bleach water to wash down my pantry and put up pantry moth traps. Threw out all dry ingredients. Took labels off all cans and bottled and washed them with beach water. How can I be sure that I am rid of the pantry moths and able to use my pantry again?

well informed. I also have found them in Rice-a-Roni boxes
upon getting home from the supermarket!
From all that you did, I would surely say you have
covered everything and should be able to use the pantry
by now.
Also, place some bay leaves around inside of it, as this
helps repel ants and pantry pests, and just be sure you
do not place any open or boxed foods again. Simply
transfer into air tight containers such as jars,bottles and
tupperware immediately after buying, and you should

Gerbil Mouse
The pet store said gerbil but it looks like a mouse, how do you tell?
He is about 3.5 inches with a 4 inch tail and is a grey color. My friend just came over and said it’s a mouse because it raises to it’s hind feet and stands, she says gerbils don’t do that. Anyone know if it’s a gerbil or mouse?
It has fur on it’s tail, I thought that mice had furless tails.
It looks like a photo I found of a lilac gerbil. It has fur on the tail but not so much on the ears.
Both gerbils and mice can stand on their hind legs, but a mouse does so less often. A mouse is generally smaller than an adult gerbil, has larger ears and it’s tail and ears are hairless. A gerbil’s coat is a bit longer than a mouse’s, their front legs are shorter and hind legs larger than a mouse’s, and their ears and tails are furred.

Chinchilla Sugar
What’s the best way to build your own chinchilla or sugar glider habitat?
I’m looking to adopt a sugar glider or chinchilla as a pet. Additionally, I will need a habitat. Has anyone had any experience building their own habitat for either pet?
Sugar gliders need an adequate size cage – at least 20 x 20 x 30 inches. A taller cage is better than a wider one because sugar gliders love to climb. Wire cages are best and commercial bird cages work well. You don’t want to use screen door mesh wire, as this is too small and your pet can easily get his claws caught in it. Cages with removable trays are also very handy, because they are easy to clean.
Keep the cage where your sugar glider won’t experience large differences in temperature (usually the best place is indoors). Since they are nocturnal, sleeping during the day, you will want to put the cage somewhere out of the way where it won’t be disturbed by people’s daily comings and goings. But do make sure to keep him where he can see whether it is night or day, so as to not mess up his biological clock.
Inside the cage provide a nesting box where your sugar glider can sleep during the day. Put aspen shavings, shredded paper, or an old cloth in the nesting box for more comfortable sleep. Put shavings on the bottom of the cage also, to absorb droppings and pushed out food. DO NOT use cedar shavings – these can cause respiratory problems. It is also thought that pine bedding may cause problems as well.
To make your sugar glider’s habitat more natural, it is a great idea to put branches in the cage (many bird perches work great, also). Just be sure that the branches you use are clean and don’t have any chemical residues left on them.
Including toys in the cage will give your pet exercise and enjoyment. Many bird toys work great, and also hollow logs or pipes that they can explore and hide in.

Can you keep Capybaras as pets in the United States?
I know they require a lot of care. I don’t particularly want to hear about that. I’m not saying I want one but I want to know which states they are legal in.

When kept at parks and farms and resorts it was found they can harbor capybaras were found to be a reservoir for Rocky Mountain spotted fever. but I imagine if you get yours as a baby and raise it at home that won’t be a problem.

I’m new with hamsters and I’m not sure what to get it. If you do not recommend this product do you have anything to recommend?
I have a critter trail 2 cage for my 2 gerbils. They love it. they sleep (and go potty) in the loft up on top. I did however buy them a different water bottle; one that I connected to the inside and sat close to the ground. I tried a regular wire cage after my cat knocked the cage over and cracked it, but they seemed to not like it! so, i went back to the critter trail. Also, they seem to love sunflower seeds. I feed this to them along with their regular food. And, give them toilet /paper towel rolls too. they like to chew.

Zipper All
If a zipper breaks on a coat can you replace the pull thingy or do ya have to put all new zipper?
I have two new double down filled coats and the pull thing on the zipper is broken. Can you just replace the pull thing, or would I need to replace the whole zipper (teeth and all). Someone gave them to me and I just cant throw away new coats.
the whole pull mechanism broke. The zippers wouldnt zip because it was bent and when we bent them back the thing broke in half.
Im not sure i understand completely. If the teeth are all still there and the zipping mechanism is still in tact but the PULL TAB has broken its easily replaced. If the MECHANISM has broken it will likely be easier and more cost efficient to replace the whole zipper.

Water: Depending on where you live, use either bottled water or even tap. In San Francisco, we have some of the best tap water in the US (world?) and thus I have been told by my Vet that it is perfectly ok for my furry critter.

Ferret Chinchilla Sugar
Chinchilla, ferret, or sugar glider?
I’m going to be getting an exotic animal within a couple years, and I’ve pretty much narrowed it down to these three. I love all three of these animals very much, and have already spent many hours researching all three. I really want a companion that will closely bond with me, hang out with me, whether at home or around the house. I have lots of time for any of these animals, so time is a nonissue! So, I’m looking for some feedback: which would you choose?
I haven’t had any experience with chinchillas, however I would recommend a ferret. My friend had a sugar glider for a long time and it never bonded with him the way they are known to do. It usually just bit his hands to peices. My neighbors have a ferret that I babysit occasionally and I always enjoy it. She scampers around the house and we play games with the water faucet. She has the most personality that I have ever seen in a small animal. Also, some vets will see ferrets even if they are not exotic specialists, so that is also a plus. Can you give dwarf hamster rat and mice food?
i just got my dwarf hamster a week ago and my parents got a cage that was suppose to be for mice. it had all the things needed for mice and rats and the food as well. i’m wondering if i should continue to feed my hamster rat and mice food since i have a 5lb. bag now. Will it do any harm to my hamster? and is the mice and rat cage too small for a dwarf hamster?
Most food for small rodents is safe for consumption by all small rodents. If you do a search for rat food you find that most of the food is all purpose food for any type of small animal.

Animal Cage
How can I better control the smellof my small animal cage?
We have a pet mouse that we rescued from being snake food. She is in a 10 gallon tank in my son’s room. We really enjoy watching her, but unfortunately, she is very stinky. I’ve tried to control the odor with products especially made for this purpose, but to no avail. I change the tank completely every week. Can I put scented cat litter in the bottom of the cage? Would it harm her? Or what about the clay kind with no scent? Or baking soda? Has anyone tried that stuff you put in their water to help control it internally? Is it safe?? Please help! And no, I would not consider making her snake food!
A 10 gallon aquarium doesn’t have very good ventilation so naturally, you’re going to end up with a smell. Cedar chips are the worst thing you could ever use in a rodent cage, it causes terrible upper resp. problems. The safest bedding to use is this bedding, I can’t recall the name of it(Nature’s something…?) but it’s grey and made from recycled newspaper. It’s very absorbant and very safe. Be sure to clean the cage twice a week, about every two or three days and don’t use chemicals. Warm water and Dawn dish soap is the safest way to go. Another thing, including cleaning the tank itself, be sure to wash the accesories in the tank such as food bowl, water bottle, wheel, etc. Mice will urinate wherever they are and a lot of plastic cage accesories will trap that ammonia that’s in their urine. Again, don’t use harsh cleaners, just warm water and Dawn dish soap with an abrassive sponge. That always does the trick! Good luck to you and your new pet!

The last goal I had on my 2009 dreamline was to hang glide off a mountain in Rio. This was one of those goals that I kind of didn’t really know what I was getting myself into until the day it happened. My ride to the mountain shows up on time at 11 am. With a little chit chat in the car about some pre-flight jitters and some conversation with the owners about how we were going to shoot the opening of our Rio video – more on that later – off we go.
In 15 short minutes from our hotel in Ipanema (the Fasano) we arrive at our mountain. The drive (circling from mountain base to mountain top) takes another 15 minutes to reach what I’m going to call the launching pad. When we arrived at the top, it honestly just looked like a big dirt patch with a bunch of overgrown paper airplanes queued up in one direction. It was so foggy (cloudy) that you could barely see anything.
My pilot introduced himself and informed me that I would be his co-pilot for the flight (more like the schmuck strapped to him like a terrorist straps a pack of dynamite to themselves). He said beacuse of the clouds we would have to sit on the top of the mountain and wait for the clouds to clear before we could go. I thought ok, no problem, just let me know when to yell Geronomo.
