Sugar Glider Rat
Sugar Glider VS Rat? ?
Ok here is my Problem…I use to have 2 rats and i fell in love with them completly and I had a really close bond with them, but it broke my heart when they passed away..they have such a short life spand…i know Sugar gliders have a longer life spand…but will they have a close bond with me?
Sugar gliders do indeed live a long life- up to 15 years. But sugar gliders are a thousand times more high maintenance than rats. Their diets are very particular and must be home made, they must have large flight cages for free movement, and they need at least one other glider to share their living quarters with. Not to mention they require pouches to sleep in and it takes quite a long time to form a bond with them. Bonding entails wearing their pouch on your body and allowing them to adjust to your scent and movements as they sleep.

Ferret Cage

Ferret cage?
Another ferret question- sorries!
I have been reading up endlessly on ferrets and will probably be buying one very soon. I have read website after website, and checked out (or bought) a couple of books, but one thing that I keep getting different answers for is ferret cages. I will only be having one ferret (at least for now), and need to know everything that has to do with ferret cages.
Size, bedding, litter box, water bottle; what kind of cage is the best, how many ramps? Does anyone have a specific cage they would reccomend? Pictures of ferret cages already made up would be great!
Don’t get me wrong, I know the basics and would probably be just fine with what I know, but extra help doesn’t hurt.

1 what is your opinion on the sugar glider?
2 Are they good pets to own?
3 Are they pets that a whole family can enjoy?

One advantage that dog owners have long had over cat owners is the ability to take their pets out for a walk on a leash. If you envy those dog owners and you would like to take your precious kitty for a walk outside, just follow these simple steps to train your cat to use a leash.
Choosing the Right Leash
The first step toward training your cat to use a leash is to choose the right type of leash. While dogs may be satisfied with using a collared leash, the same is not true with cats. In fact, cats will often slip right out of a collar. Therefore, it is better to obtain a harness that fits around the cat’s chest instead. Another option is a walking jacket, which is very difficult for a cat to get out of and can be quite comfortable for your pet.

Chinchilla Rat Cage

Would a Rat and a chinchilla get along in the same cage if the cage was fairly large?
I was thinking about possibly buying a chinchilla and two more rats but in a diffrent cage from my other rats. I was just wondering if any one would kno what would happen if I put a chinchilla in a fairly large cage with two rats? Thanx..
Don’t. It’s just not a good idea. I don’t know much about chinchillas, but rats are aggressive competitors, and you will probably lose a chinchilla as a result. Rats have been known to, in the wild and as pets, kill mice inhabiting the same space as them, because other rodents represent competition for food. Although they are pack animals, they are pack animals with their own kind, their own pack, and that’s about it.
There’s also the fact that rats and chinchillas require different environments to fully stimulate them, and you most likely couldn’t provide for both in the same cage.
They need separate cages. And fortunately, rodent cages are not that expensive, so this is quite doable.

If you are seeking a bit of information to help you learn how to better understand and care for your guinea pig especially what to feed Guinea Pigs you have come to the right place. First there are some interesting things that you should learn about your new pet or prospective new pet because they are quite fascinating creatures and they have loads to learn about them. There is many differences in the guinea pig in comparison to say, a mouse or a rabbit so before you learn what to feed them, lets explore a few amazing facts about the guinea pig in general.
Weird But True Guinea Pig Facts
Not that any of these facts will help you in learning what to feed Guinea Pigs however they are interesting and will most definitely help you in caring and giving affection to your pet. The guinea pig does not have a tail for example; well not a visible one anyway and despite what you may have learned in school, it is true that they do no in fact, have visible tails. In every piece of old literature located in your local library or elsewhere, it will state that these animals do in fact have tails and it even states this in the all American dictionary!

ferret/sugar glider/any furry unusual pet help!?
ok. i want an unusual pet. i’ve already decided either a sugar glider or a ferret (if u have any ideas about another small furry UNUSUAL pet, tell me PLEASE). could u pick which one I should get? and also … i travel out of the country the whole summer, and I have no idea whatsoever on what to do with my pet. and if u know, could u tell me how much it costs to get a ferret/sugar glider/small furry unusual pet? ThAnKs So MuCh, ByE!!!!!!!!
Ferrets are good pets. Sugar gliders require a pretty specialized diet, and it wouldn’t be terribly nice to ask someone to take care of it for a whole summer. If you look to get a glider, I recommend buying a book on it (BEFORE buying the animal!) and reading up on what they need. A lot of space and effort go into making the diet work.

in some of my previous questions i have mentioned that i have the habitrail ovo for my hamster, and some have said that i should get a different cage. i want to know if i really should, because my hamster is healthy and happy, and he seems to like his cage, and i am confused about what some of you think about my cage.
i have this cage and my robo’s love it. as long as there is a wheel for your hamster to run in and there are things for him to gnaw on your hamster will be fine! just make sure you let him out once a day in a ball. as long as your hamster looks healthy then you have nothing to worry about!

Pig Small Animal

Is a Guinea Pig the best small animal in stores?
I am looking to get a small animal, and I’m kinda interested in Guinea Pigs and Ferrets. Which one is better? I’m looking for a small animal that doesn’t bite a lot.
Well to start, you should avoid pet stores for all you’re worth. All pet store animals come from the same identical situations; High-volume breeding facilities. In these situations, animals are obviously bred with carelessless since money is the real importance. It is a market which people should not support. Instead, find a breeder, or adopt an animal from a shelter.

Ferret…Sugar Glider…?
Which do you prefer as a pet and why?
Also, I’m considering getting one of these pets, so which one would work best in my household?
-4 family members, no young children. All kids in their mid teens.
-3 small dogs
-Large house, plenty of space
-Primary caregiver has plenty of time to interact with pet
-2 Chinchillas
-Quiet neighborhood
-Smell is not an issue
I don’t need you to write a book about glider/ferret care, as I’ve already researched PLENTY. Personal experiences would be a plus, as will interesting facts that aren’t located on many websites.
Thanks!

I really want a rat or a hamster and i need to know where to buy one so then i can get my mom to take me to the place then i’ll show her some cute hamsters or rats!
The best place to buy a healthy, friendly rat is a breeder. I’m not sure what state you are in, but here are some websites where you may be able to find a breeder near you, if you are in the USA:

Pet Food

How do we encourage pet food companies to change the way they do business?
Now that many of our pets have died, and many pet food manufacturers (including Purina) are recalling their products, how do we go about changing the way that pet food companies conduct their business? How do we insist that they stop outsourcing their business to suspect countries, suspect vendors, thereby endangering our precious pets? Humans will be next to be endangered by the “outsourced” food industry, mark my words.
Well I certainly agree with you Especially about the food for human consumption.Companies must be held accountable for the product they deliver to our market shelves.

Should i get a Rat, hamster or mouse?
I already have 1 hamster but i am windering what pet i should get a Rat hamster or mouse. a rat might freak me out at first but i like them. mouses seem a little better but they can escape easily. and hamsters are awesome but they are dumb. so tell me pros and cons and which one u prefer
btw hamster arnt “dumb” but u cant teach them tricks like you can with rats
Compared to mice and hamsters, rats are a LOT more work, commitment, and money! If you are considering something like mice and hamsters, rats are probably not the best choice. They need large cages, a few hours of daily out-of-cage time, and they also MUST have at least one companion (they cannot live alone), which means twice the costs of food and vet care.
