Yes, it is available in stores. But that doesn’t mean you should get it. It’s too small, even with add-ons, and there’s next to no ventilation. It’s one of those things they make to appeal to people with no consideration of the animals that will live in them.

Ferret Rat
Which makes a better pet: a rat or a ferret?
I’m trying to get a pet that I can handle with my allergies. I’m allergic to dogs and the rest of my family is allergic to cats so I was thinking about a rat or ferret. I want something to be a good companion, not to difficult to care for, trainable, doesn’t smell, and isn’t to pricey to care for.
I don’t know about allergies. You should probably go play with both at a pet store just to make sure you aren’t allergic.

What is the difference between a ferret cage and a rabbit cage?
I have a old ferret cage and am going to buy a baby dwarf lion head rabbit. Will the ferret cage work?

Do you need to give lionhead rabbits a bath???
1. If the ferret cage doesn’t have numerous levels to it, it will work. Some rabbits try jumping down from the levels instead of using ramps and can actually injure themselves.
2. Requirements-Preferably no wire bottom that can cause sore hocks in the rabbit, and be difficult to clean sometimes. The bigger cage the better.
3. Timothy-based pellets..small amount. (alfalfa-based if they are under 6 months old) Constant supply of Timothy hay (again, alfalfa if they are under 6 mo) approx. 1cup of fresh greens/veggies/fruits per day (absolutely no iceberg lettuce or cabbage….find more poisonous foods on rabbit.org)
4. I would highly recommend getting a lionhead from a rescue, shelter, or reputable breeder. Make sure the rabbit gets spayed/neutered, as well. This will prevent ovarian cancer in females (they can get it as early as 3 years of age), and urine spraying in males. Also, have a knowledgeable rabbit veterinarian’s number on hand in case of an emergency.
5. DO NOT give the rabbit a bath. They are self-cleaning like a cat. If they get extremely dirty, then it’s best to use a wet washcloth to wipe them down. If you get them soaked in a tub of water, they can go into shock.

Can you breed a Degu with a regular pet rat?
i have a female pet rat and my friend has a male Degu and she was wondering if its possible to breed them together? Or is it just a lost cause in trying. Were not looking to make freak mutant babies, shes just an animal lover who can’t help her obsession with wanting more pets. any help would be appreciated.

They are a different species.
It’s not a good idea to try breeding animals when you don’t know much about it, anyway, even if they ARE the same species. :]

i wanna add an “addition” to my sugar glider cage but i went to lowes and couldnt find nething that is like the current stuff my cage is made out of now…where do the companies get it? i need like the hard plastic coated wire not the mesh or nething….ne ideas? …i have debated getting a bird cage that is the same size as mine…cutting the top off and connecting the two but dont wanna spend 50 +.

Sugar glider bonding?
I was curious, just adopted an adult sugar glider…do they bond with just one human or is it that once they’ve bonded with a human they’re okay with all of them? Mine has bonded with me very quickly but I want her to be okay with my husband in the house too…
Hey there, sugar gliders usually bond closely with one person, but if handled correctly can at least be alright with many people. My youngest sugar glider was handled often and by a lot of people before I got him, so anyone can handle him and he’s not afraid. He definitely knows I’m mom though, because when he’s ready to go back to his pouch he jumps to me to take him there

In order to do that you need to become familiar with gerbil sounds and gerbil behavior. Gerbils squeak to yell at each other … watch that they don’t fight if there is squeaking going on. Chirping is the way they communicate. It’s all good when you hear chirping. Gerbils are prone to respiratory infections. A clicking sound will warn you that your gerbil is sick.
You might notice your gerbil vibrating when you hold and pet it. Yes, this is like a cat purring, your gerbil is happy when he does this. It won’t make any sound; you’ll just feel the vibrating. Have you seen and heard tapping noises? This can be a mating sound or a warning of danger and is caused when they thump their hind feet. If many gerbils are thumping, that is them trying to warn each other, if only one is thumping, the gerbil is sexually excited. If they are patting their feet frequently, you need to see what could be scaring your gerbil and fix the situation.

I wanted a pet hamster but now I want a gerbil. I want to find a cheap cage but with good quality. It needs to have lots of things for my gerbil to do. Can I keep a gerbil on its own and which breed of gerbil are best for being on their own bearing in mind that I will give them lots of love and attention.
