Bed Guinea
How can I keep my Guinea Pigs from pooping in their bed?
I have a fleece bed called like the critter cup or something that my Guinea Pigs both sleep in. I got them yesterday off craigslist and they’re about 1 year old. I have an area with bedding and a litter box, but they don’t use it. I put hamster litter in (I couldnt find guinea pig litter) and some of their poop in it so they’d get the idea. I don’t want to wash the bed in the washing machine every day. So how can i litterbox train them?
keep moving its poop out from its bed and eventually it will realize that its not supposed to be pooping there

Hamster Gerbil Mouse

What do you like to feed your hamster or mouse or gerbil?
Other then regular hamster/gerbil/mouse food, what do you like to feed them?
We give them scrambled eggs with oats in it and they LOVE it, their other favorites are lettuce, carrots, celery and brown rice.
Thank you Kacii for the recipe, we will try it sometime. I LOVE my male mice, but they are smelly, I wish they weren’t..but oh well.
My mice loves scrambled eggs too!! never tried brown rice. And my mice hates, lettuce for some strange reason. It might be because she is a fatty! You should try this my mice and gerbils love it (even though it is for rats)
1 cup whole wheat flour
3/4 cup cornmeal
2/3 cup dried mixed fruit (no orange or other citrus — see below for explanation), chopped into small pieces
1 teaspoon vegetable oil
1/2 cup apple juice (or some other non citrus fruit juice)
Mix all ingredients. Shape mixture into small (1/2 inch) balls. Place balls on greased cookie sheet.

Pets are the greatest friends that a human being can have, offering a great way to pass time for their owners. According to the recent surveys, it has been proved that having a pet improves the general quality of health and life in general for the owner. Like many small animals such as ferrets, rats and chinchillas, birds are kept as beloved pets too, with a lot many preferring these feathered friends as pets because of low costs and cleaner environments. Also, having birds as pets can enhance the grandeur of a house. However giving a bird its own private space is a must to keep them happy. So if you want to keep your ‘winged friends’ happy, buying from the variety of bird cages is crucial.
There are various models, colors and sizes of bird cages available in the pet shops and many of the amateur owners might have a hard time choosing the perfect cage. So here are some bird cage selection tips that would make you and your bird happy:
Size of the Cage: Large birds such as Amazons, conures, cockatoos or African grays require large bird cages. These cages have bars that are positioned horizontally and not vertically. Such design helps the birds to climb and exercise within the cage. The smaller birds such as canaries, parakeets, parrots and finches do well in the smaller or the parrot cages. The doors for all the cages should be large so that the birds can get access easily. There should also be food and water containers within the cage that can be filled from the outside. The bird cages should also be easy to clean to maintain a hygienic environment.

Glider Cage Set

How do you set up a Sugar Glider cage?
My Grandma is going to get me a Sugar Glider for my birthday and I’ve been reading up. I was wondering what you need for a perfect Glider cage. I already have the cage which is 30″ x 30″ x 6’6″. What should I put in the cage? I’d like help from experienced Sugar Glider owner. And what should their diet consist of? Thanks a ton!
Diet:
The feeding requirements of a sugar glider are somewhat controversial. It is only recently they have been kept as pets, and needs are somewhat of a mystery. As time goes on people will learn more about the needs of these little creatures. Sugar gliders are omnivorous, meaning they will eat plant material and meat. In the wild they feed from nectar, fruit, insects and even small birds, eggs or rodents. This diet is pretty hard to replicate in captivity. People feed them a variety of foods trying to mimic their natural diet as best they can. Some people feed insects such as crickets, mealworms, waxworms, moths and spiders. The insects should be fed high quality food such as commercial cricket food, and dusted with a complete vitamin/mineral supplement. Hence their name, the sugar glider loves the taste of sugar. They like fruit cocktail. The fruit should be fed in small amounts, chopped together so the gliders can not just pick out their favorites. There are many different diets that can be fed. These diets cannot be mixed and match and must be fed according to directions. Incorrect diet can cause serious health issues. Some diets you may want to research
BML, Taronga Zoo Diet, Chicago Zoological Park Alternative Diet , Darcy’s Sugar Glider Diet , Elwin’s Fresh Food Diet, Priscilla Price’s Sugar Glider Diet, Suncoast Glider Diet Plan, etc(there are a few more to this list)

Custom Indoor Rabbit

Pets are the most priced ownership as they are your loyal companions always. When you imagine about pets, you have a lot of attractive animals to choose from like dog, cat, snake, parrot, monkey, chimp, goat, rabbit and many animals you can actually imagine of. But simply possessing a pet doesn’t mean that you have no responsibility towards that animal, in fact your pet requires a lot of care and love so that it grows and lives fit. Various pets need varied habitats and as rabbit is a very scared and tender animal it adapts itself to a very quiet surrounding. So you shouldplan carefully whether you should have a Rabbit Hutch or a Rabbit Cage for Your Pet Rabbit. Your pet rabbit should be protected from wild rabbits and infections that may be spread by wild rabbits, so before you purchase a pet rabbit and a living place like a rabbit hutch or rabbit cage, please assure that your pet rabbit is not for your pleasure or style, it is your genuine love that nurtures the animal. Rabbit Hutch: Rabbit Hutch is the best option if you wish to keep your pet outside your home, in your lawn or verandah. You can either construct your own rabbit hutch or can purchase a premade one and in both the cases you need to think about particular things like: Rabbit Hutch should be lifted above the ground and the roof top should be waterproof to protect your tender pet rabbit from severe climatic situations. You will find a huge variety of Rabbit Hutches obtainable in the bazaar that are specifically designed for your bunny rabbit. Custom-wise, rabbit hutches are prepared of plywood, a box measuring a minimum of 4 feet by 2 feet. Usually, rabbit hutch is used to keep your pet rabbit outside your home or you can also keep it indoors if you possess enough area in your home. Rabbit Cage: Rabbit cage is perfect if you wish to keep your pet rabbit in your home. It’s a wonderful companion to keep it in your house. Your bunny rabbit will feel very comfortable in your home to run in and out as these animals, by nature, love area of secure cover. You will find a range of rabbit cages obtainable in the bazaar, so choose one that is large enough but not with rough flooring as your pet rabbit will feel very prickly in it. If your rabbit is going to remain for long hours in its cage, choose a rabbit cage that is four times the span of your rabbit. Perfectly, you will need 38″ x 24″ cage for a smaller bunny rabbit approximately less than eight pounds. And for a larger bunny you will need a rabbit cage of at least 30″ x 36″, so that your pet rabbit can sit up erect without its ears touching the roof top. Try and pick a rabbit cage which doesn’t have wire flooring or if your rabbit cage has a wire flooring you can cover it with wood sheet or can give matting so that your pet rabbit feels comfortable. Whether you purchase a rabbit hutch or a rabbit cage, you should assure your pet’s security and comfort. Prevent rabbit hutch or cage with wired bottoms, sharp edges or smaller sizes. The dry hay bedding with wide outlet of rabbit hutch or cage is perfect for your bunny rabbit to stay happily. If you have a baby rabbit, always bear in mind that your baby rabbit will nuture into fit adult rabbit, so its home should be large enough to lodge adult rabbit conveniently. Let your pet rabbit enjoy its stay with you and live a fit and secure life.

Cat beds are not only nice to sleep in, but they can become necessary to your cat’s health. If you have a lightweight cat that has trouble with their weight, a heated cat bed can stave off potential colds. Heated cat beds are also great for older cats and pets with arthritic and joint ailments
.Cat beds are just the ticket for giving your cat its own space and what’s great about them is that there are a ton of fantastic options perfect for any sized feline. Cat beds come in a wide variety of styles, sizes and materials. For example, you can get just plain and flat or a fluffy bed that is just a layer of foam covered in fabric. Cat beds are easy to find, are usually fairly affordable, and give your cat a comfortable space of his own.
There are different types of cat beds but the one thing they must do is be softer than the floor. Cat beds differ from human beds in that they rest on the ground without a frame. Usually, cat beds have a thick cushion on the bottom to keep the pets warm and soft to the cat. Having a cat bed can indeed be beneficial because cats do take pleasure in sleeping.
Most cat beds lack sheets or blankets, but many have a coverlet, I have even seen cat beds with of all things a canopy, that can be removed and laundered.

Chinchilla Cage
Chinchilla Cage?
I am thinking of buying a chinchilla or two and I need to know where to get a cage for them. I want one that would be fun with several levels, but I don’t really know what they are able to play on. Any help is appreciated!
The larger the cage, the better. The minimum floor space is about 24 by 24 inches, and a tall cage is best; if possible get a tall cage with shelves and ladders that allow the chinchilla to climb. Wire is the best cage material, and avoid plastic cages or accessories and chinchillas chew and destroy plastic readily. For ease of cleaning, a pull out tray is a nice feature.
I like this one.
http://www.rabbitstop.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=60226&Category_Code=SuperPetChinchillaHomes&Product_Count=0
The tray can be lined with wood shavings (avoid cedar shavings, and hardwood shavings such as aspen are preferred over pine), or newspapers. Many chinchilla cages have a wire floor, which is nice for keeping them out of dirty cage bottoms but can be hard on chinchilla feet. If you use a wire floor or have all wire shelves, provide at least one wooden platform (or cover part of the wire with a piece of wood) to give the chinchilla’s feet a break. A nest box, made of wood, should also be provided..

is £55 enough for a cage and everything else?
i went into pets at home and some a cage for £39 pounds and it said free kit with this cage, so im assuming you get a starter kit or something, so do i now just need to get a small bag of bedding, food and some toys??
yes it would include those, but it is always a good idea to get Extra bedding and food. things like wheels and supplements are always good to.the reason you would have to get Extra food and so forth is because they don’t give you that much and i find hamsters or any rodent when in a new home tend to /go/ wherever just to get there smell on things. so it the bedding doesn’t last that long

Rat Hamster Cage

is it possible to keep a rat in a large hamster cage?
hi i have two questions #1. i got a my rat last summer and so far i kept her in a big hamster cage, will i have to get a bigger cage? #2. is it true that if you keep a rat in a small cage it will not grow full size?
If you want a happy rat you should get a bigger cage. I have 3 rats that I got last Aug. I recently moved them into a 4 foot tall ferret cage. Rats love to climb, you don’t have to get a cage as big as mine for 1 rat but she would really be happy in a spacious cage. I know people don’t like spending money on buying bigger cages but I could really tell the difference in attitude when I moved them over.
I’m not sure about your 2nd question.

Rabbit Guinea Pig

Is it safe to feed a rabbit Guinea Pig Food?
I just bought my rabbits food from the store, the big 8lb bag, and when I got home, I realized it said Guinea Pig instead of Rabbit. It’s made by the same people that do the rabbit food, hence the confusion. Can I use it or would I be better off returning it and getting the rabbit food. Comparing the two bags, it looks like it has most of the same stuff in it.

A common mistake ferret owners make is assuming their ferret is naturally inclined to use a litter box like a cat does. This is not true. Ferrets are separated from their mothers at an early age and never receive the stage at which mama ferret teaches them to use a litter box.
With that said ferrets are intelligent, trainable animals. Generally, the easiest way to train a ferret is with positive reinforcement. Simply put, by offering them a reward for performing a behavior you desire.
First: If you don’t have a cage, get one. It is very important that your ferret have a place to sleep, eat, play and use the litter box.
Initially, keep your ferret confined to the cage with a litter box. The ferret needs to get used to a small confined area, and become comfortable using his litter box before you can expand his play and roam areas.

Chinchilla Sugar Glider

chinchilla or sugar glider?
I am considering a new pet for my 17th birthday. I am considering a chinchilla and a sugar glider. Which do you prefer? Which are easier to feed and take care of? What are the pros and cons of both? How big of a cage do you need? If you could give me some websites to look at that would be very helpful.
Male or female? one or two? what do they both eat? how tame can they become?
Salutations, Yes sugar gliders are cute. They are a very small marsupial about the size of a chipmunk. The name sugar glider means short headed rope dancer. They come from Australia and Indonesia. Before purchasing a glider, you need to first call or write the State Fish and Game, Wildlife Dept. to learn the state and local laws and regulations regarding the legalities of obtaining, owning, and breeding gliders. There are many laws and license or permit requirements and they vary in each state. Gliders are an exotic animal and are not legal in some states. Sugar gliders are a very special marsupial, and are not for everyone. Gliders are very social creatures and require interaction daily to avoid depression which can be fatal. It is recommended that they be kept in unrelated groups of at least 2 gliders. Or if kept alone, they receive no less than 2 hours of human interaction daily. They are like having a baby with a 15 year commitment. It takes a lot of patience and time to bond with a glider. They do smell until you learn how to feed them correctly. But the odor isn’t like others as it has a sweet odor verses an ammonia odor. They do not like the smell of perfumes, lotions, other chemicals, nor other animals. And will bite if they smell any of these on you. They can be expensive to care for properly. Calcium/Phosphorus ratio in the diet of a glider is very important. The basic diet consists of fresh vegetables, fruits, and proteins including live and dried bugs, also pollen, nectar, and sap. A 25% to 50% proteins 75% fresh fruits and vegetables. They need fresh eucalyptus or safe fruit tree branches that are free of pesticides to chew on for healthy tooth and nail wear. Gliders are territorial and scent mark everything they come in contact with including their owners. They are not potty trainable as far as I know. They make several sounds such as barking (at 4am), hissing, chattering, and crabbing which sounds like a pencil being sharpened. Did I mention that they are up all night and sleep all day? You would also need to find a knowledgeable vet that cares for exotics since gliders are considered an exotic animal. Not all vets handle gliders, and since gliders are up all night, it’s important to have a vet that is available in those night hours. Sugar gliders don’t bond with everyone, and are never to be left unattended especially with kids, because when gliders land they grab the object they are landing on. They have small sharp nails that usually scratch. They may land on a bare shoulder, or side of face accidentally catching an eyelid, or lip, and kids tend to react physically, which can lead to injury to the glider. Traveling can be stressful on them and that’s another lengthy topic in its self. Granted they are cute, sweet looking, full of pep, and curiosity. I’ve had many animals in my life including squirrels and I must say that it is a full time job being owned by sugar gliders, and there is much to be learned. Please ask yourself these simple questions. Are you willing and able to commit to a 15 year 24 hour full time relationship. Will college, sports, children, career change, room mates, change your lifestyle? If so Will you still keep your gliders? With all the new things you will be doing, would you have the time to give them the attention they need and deserve? Do lots and lots of research before deciding. I have found a fun and educational game online called what if… When you get a chance it’s worth the checking out. The site is listed below.
I hope this info is of assistance to you in making this important life changing decision. I am owned by three gliders.. two of which are rescues due to misinformed owners.
