When taking small pets as carry on … do they weigh or examine carrier? Want to try to bring 2 pugs on board?
I am travelling home for the holidays and want to take my pugs with me. They are small so I think they can fit in 1 carrier. The airlines rule says total carrier plus pets can’t exceed 15 lbs. Are they really going to weigh it though? They’re small pugs.
I have seen them weigh it. Plus, you will have to take the dogs out and put the carrier though the screening belt.
Plan on being taken off to the side for the wand screening and pat down. That is almost normal procedure, so don’t think you are being picked on.
Like stated earlier – each airport’s TSA is different in how they handle it.

8 wk old chinchilla, can I use a bonding pouch with it similar to sugar gliders?
I was thinking a fleece pouch with a couple “windows”.
I’ve never heard of anyone doing this, but I don’t know if it’s a very good idea. Sugar glider bonding pouches are good because they are scent oriented and can get used to you that way, and plus, they’re marsupials. (I actually have my two girls in my bra right now.) I’m not sure if this would even be a good idea for a chinchilla. You’d be blocking off all of its exit points and would feel trapped.
I think that it’s just best to bond with them while they’re awake and active.

Can you give guinnea pig food to hamsters?
This may seem like a stupid question to some, haha, but I just worry, I baught some treat sticks for my hamsters, turned out they were really for guinnea pigs, will it be ok to give them to my hammys?

if they are just treat sticks then its fine. IF its pelleted food then not really since Hamsters eat mainly seeds and Guinea Pigs food is mostly compressed hay.

Gerbils have tails. Tails freak me out–I opted for a hamster.
Dwarf hamsters can live together–if they are all one gender–and have a friendly community.

What does XYZ mean? (not X-amine Your Zipper – possibly an old term in early 20th century)?

This is an add on question to a previous one. I thought Oliver was getting better and more calm but the other night we left for 2 hours and he dug the carpet up from underneath the door, Im afraid he’ll get worse and seriously hurt himself. Have you medicated your dog for this problem and did it help?
Well we have crate trained him and he has tottally distroyed it. I cant leave him outside (ive tried) he just comes to the door and cries. He’s very attached to us and follows us everywhere. he’s been diagnosed with separation anxiety but i have avoided medication, to seek other alternatives, now it’s the only option left.
Hi, and yes. I know how you feel. I don’t really like my dog being on it but it has helped. I have a 2 yr old rat terrier and I adopted him from the pound. I am gone all day and live in an apartment so I tried to cage him and he broke out every time even if it meant he had to hurt himself. My vet recommended a separation anxiety pill for dogs like mine called CLOMICALM. It’s worked really well. My dog stays in my apartment all day through the week and I’ve had no problems. He is happy and doesn’t tear anything up. So I like it. I would like to wean him off sooner or later but my doc thinks he should stay on it. So I am not sure what will happen. My friend says that after about a month he stopped giving it to his dog and all was fine. Good luck and feel free to email me if you have questions.

i haven’t seemed to find any that good for that cheap.. and i looked at my local pet stores..and the cheapest was $199 and one for $99 but it was used and crap.
Those cages are fine…
but, i want something really tall..and kinda nice.
and those large cages look like they are gonna fall apart.
and i cant build worht a crap. =]
I have that exact cage – in fact, I bought it from the same seller off ebay. Check feedback – I think I heard of a few issues from him, but I got my cage just fine. It’s a great cage for that price! I love it – I’m housing 4 gliders in it currently and it’s almost too small but they get plenty of tent time.

How can you prevent your hamster cage from smelling bad and getting mold and such? I already know that carefresh takes away the smell but i actually haven’t tried it to see if it works. But how can you prevent mold and such to get away from your cage. I heard you have to clean your cage or wipe it down oftenly. Please tell me if it’s true or if you have any suggestions and stuff.
Before you get a hamster, please do the right and responsible thing: Get a good, recently published book on hamsters as pets, and then read it at least once before you even consider purchasing the animal. Remember, living things all need care and you may find that you can’t afford it or don’t have the time!

K9 Advantix and Frontline did not work this season. Now 2 dogs and kitten has fleas. Did flea baths, more drops, washed carpets, sprayed house – still have fleas :*(. HELP!
Put in a nightlight with a pan of soapy water under it. (Don’t let the dog drink it.) Every morning you will find many dead fleas.

I was told that sugar gliders can eat small animal food mix is this true?
I finally got a sugar glider Mr. Snuggles I have researched them for a long time before I had gotten him but when I purchased him (from a local pet store) they had me purchase small animal mix food (dry food) and they told me that they eat chicken and fruits once a week but everyday the dry food is this right or were they feeding them all wrong too? ohh and Ive only had him since April 17 2007 and already he allowes myself and my two children to hold him (havent attemted out of the cage yet) to afraid will take off so soon plz I dont want him to get sick if Im doing something wrong thank you

My roomate and I have agreed that we want an animal – something smaller than a cat but something furry. What’s easy to keep hidden? Our dorm’s pretty strict and we’d rather not get kicked out.
We wanted a sugar glider but they’re expensive as hell. And they can’t be smelly or loud! Any suggestions? (Keep in mind, we’re working on a budget… no exotics, please, and we don’t like birds.)

Ferrets are fury little mammals that are like a stretched out version of a cross between a rabbit and a rat. They are highly playful and curious domesticated animals that provide great companionship for anyone. Many people do however believe that ferrets are rodents like rats and mice, but contrary to this, they are actually in the Mustelid family along with weasels, stoats and martens.
The exact origin and date of domestication of the ferret is unknown, however remains of these cute little animals have been dated back as far as 1500BC, so they are quite a mature species. Ferrets, despite their cute appearance and cheeky nature, were in fact used originally for hunting or also know as ferreting. The ferret was usually used by hunters to chase rabbits and small rodents out of their burrows, however this is now illegal in many countries, but still practiced in the United Kingdom and Australia because this method is still more successful than many of the technologies developed for the same purpose.
Ferrets are more commonly kept as pets, because of their curious and energetic playful nature, they are very similar to kittens that never grow up, which is why they are preferred by many animal lovers. The slight drawback of the ferret is that they tend to nip when they are young, intending it only in a playful manner, but it can get annoying for an owner who does not fully understand their nature. This habit can be eliminated with correct training, and generally dissipates on its own with age. Ferrets have quite a long lifespan, of around 6 to 10 years, but in some cases can live into their teens.

Is Premier Pet Pine Shavings safe for guinea pigs?
I have Premier Pet brand Pine Shavings for my guinea pig’s bedding… and the package doesn’t say kiln-dried, but my guinea pig has been sneezing and making cough-like sounds the past few days. I’ve only had him since Tuesday.
I’m thinking maybe the bedding is to blame, since I’ve recently found out pine bedding is bad for rodents if it’s not kiln-dried…and the package doesn’t say kiln-dried…
Should I get him new bedding or will he be ok with this bedding?
And what type of new bedding should I get him?
